  • Activity: New level designed using 2D Game Kit
  • Invested hours: 4 hours (a lot of time fixing Unity)
  • Notes: Designing the level was fun and it was good to put all the things I learned in the 2D game kit tutorial into practice, using my own creativity this time to design a level as I like. I didn't have any struggles with the game kit and it actually works well. However, I am still having a lot of issues with unity on my laptop, where it is often very slow or completely crashes. Sometimes it works very well but sometimes it takes up to 15 minutes just to play the game in the editor, which I find very disrupting to the development process. Then my editor just crashed and currently it wont even re-open. I am trying to fix this and will upload the build of my level as soon as I do. I think designing platformer games is very fun and I found It nice to do so iteratively as oppose to coming up with the whole level in the beginning and then implementing it.
  • Outcome: A nice level which takes some figuring out to get to the end. The sprite for my teleporter wasn't working again so I used the TransitionStart and TransitionEnd prefab instead to include teleportation. I used the pushable box to trigger a pressure pad and kill an enemy so the player can access a switch needed to get to the finish.
