- Activity: Developed the level that I designed for Project A using the 2D Game Kit
- Invested hours: 8 hours
- Notes: My game design was detailed enough that I did not need to make many design decisions when developing this level. The only thing I needed to change compared to my original design were things I heard in the Project A feedback, and I also added the feature of adding hints on what to do when the player reaches specific parts of the level. However, it still took long as I had to figure out how to do many things in the Game Kit I haven't done before. A big lesson I have taken away is using the 1/6 scale for number of tiles per grid was a horrible decision and definitely made developing this unnecessarily difficult and I actually made one mistake in the tile mapping in the beginning and had to go back and change it all. I assume this mistake would have been avoided had I used a better scale in the Game Design. I also added a breakable column at the very high health to make killing the spawned enemies more difficult. It took me about 5 minutes to finish the level on my first time, including twice and respawning at the beginning. I personally really like the level I designed, as it has some ambiguity in what the user must do, has plenty of switches for the user to hit and varous options of the path to take, i.e. the user has the choice to teleport or not, and I also like that if the user fails on the part where they have to push the box off the moving platform with good timing, they can still finish the level with the back up option but then inducing some damage. I'd say its actually quite a difficult level considering all the enemies, spikes and acid, but the jumping/parkour part is not too challenging, besides one jump that needs to be perfect.
- Outcome: The level has been successfully developed according to my Project A game design.
