- Activity: Feedback from the mandatory tutorial, where 3 other students played my game and gave me feedback.
- Time: To implement all the fixes and suggestions from the student, I predict this will take me 2.5 hours to fix.
- Notes: Overall, my game was enjoyed by the other students who played it, although some were much better at finishing the level than others. There weren't any major bugs or breaks that I found but got many suggestions and things that I did not notice until I saw other people play. When designing the game, I wanted to confuse the player a bit initially, but I think I confused them too much so I would like to change this. Here is everything I plan to modify:
- The first pushable box can get stuck in the corner and then not be used, so I will add one tile in the corner so it can be recovered if this happens.
- One of the triggers needs to be shot by a bullet to be triggered, but the student didn't know this, so I'll add a hint.
- The teleporting is confusing in that the player might take it when they don't need to, and not take it when they should. Ill change one the teleporting destination and add an explanation
- My level has a lot of triggers to open doors/ start moving platforms, but it is not clear which trigger does what, so when one is triggered, it would be nice to give a message that a door opened/ platform started etc.
- My acid is not being rendered properly in the web version of the game, but works within Unity. I am not sure how to fix this but I will try.
- The hearts UI in the corner is also not working. I have tried to fix this before, and again I am not sure how but will try.
- The most confusing part is where the player can either push a box off to trigger the pressure bad with the box or go do trigger the pressure pad with the player if they fail to do so with the box. I think the implementation is fun here and I like it, but there needs to be more explanation on how it works.
- I will add 2 checkpoints in the level because it is boring to run through the level if you die near the end
- Some of the students really struggled to deal the number of spawned enemies at the end, so I will reduce their speed and also add a text box about how to get this part.
- One of my text boxes says "Space + S" but should say "S + Space".
- Outcome: Various little things to fix to improve the overall quality of my level
